MeterWorks Teslameter: an honest magnetic field meter.

The honest teslameter: measure magnetic fields in µT (microtesla), locate magnets and metal, check the AC component — with recording and export. One-time purchase — no ads, no subscription.
Find what's magnetic
A large field-strength reading (|B|) updates in real time on a live graph, across all three axes plus the combined magnitude, sampled at 100 Hz in µT or mG (milligauss). A baseline calibration nulls the ambient field, so switching to delta mode turns the phone into a simple magnetic-field detector, making it easy to track down a magnet or a piece of magnetic metal. Compass calibration status is shown alongside the reading.
Recordings and analysis
Every recording comes with RMS, peak, peak-to-peak and crest-factor values, with zoom, pan and a cursor on the graph. Pro adds an FFT spectrum with a peak list and an AC-field indicator (beta) that flags 50 Hz mains hum specifically.
Honest about its limits
The magnetometer measures static and low-frequency fields up to around 50 Hz — high-frequency sources such as mobile networks, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth are explicitly not measurable, and this is not a substitute for a proper stud or cable finder. What it's genuinely good for: locating magnets and magnetic metal, comparing the field strength of speakers or magnets, an indicative check of low-frequency fields, and showing Earth's own field for a physics lesson.
- PNG overview export, free
- CSV export of raw data and a multi-page PDF report (Pro)
- Free tier: unlimited live measurement, three recordings up to 10 seconds each
MeterWorks Teslameter is not a calibrated measuring instrument and must not be used for safety-critical, occupational-safety, or court-evidentiary purposes. It gives an indicative reading, not a certified one. Digitalbucht is the sole proprietorship of Emil Deak, based in Wülfrath, Germany.
Data and privacy
The app uses the device's motion and magnetic-field sensors. Recorded values are processed and stored only on your device — no audio recordings are made. On start, it anonymously checks with Apple whether the sibling MeterWorks apps are available in your storefront; no personal data is sent. Exporting or sharing a recording only happens on your own action. No adverts, no tracking.
